United Way and workplace giving

ExxonMobil, together with its current and retired employees, donated more than $27.0 million through 2009 company-sponsored workplace giving campaigns in the United States, Canada, and other countries. In addition to United Way corporate gifts in the United States totaling $5.2 million, employees and retirees pledged more than $15.7 million to the United Way. In Fairfax, Virginia, ExxonMobil and its employees donated more than $2.7 million to more than 400 charitable organizations through our Employee’s Favorite Charity Campaign. Canadian employees and retirees pledged more than $2.2 million to the United Way, bringing the total corporate and employee donations in Canada to more than $3.2 million.

Our commitment to the United Way extends well beyond financial support. Many ExxonMobil employees and retirees serve on boards and committees to help formulate strategies for community programs, provide time and expertise to help manage fundraising campaigns, and participate in annual United Way Day of Caring volunteer events. In Houston, Texas, more than 4,216 employees, retirees and their families volunteered at 101 non-profit organizations and in Dallas, Texas, projects were completed at 16 different United Way agencies during 2009 United Way Day of Caring events.
