Arts and culture

ExxonMobil is sponsoring the “Roads of Arabia: Archeology and History of Saudi Arabia” exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution’s Sackler Gallery. Opening October 20, 2012, the exhibition highlights recently discovered artifacts from Saudi Arabia’s unknown ancient past.

Arts and cultural organizations around the world offer a unique ability to enrich, inspire, and educate audiences with diverse backgrounds.  In 2011, worldwide contributions supporting arts and cultural programs totaled more than $4.5 million, of which $3.5 million benefited communities in the United States.

In the U.S., our primary funding for the Arts is through ExxonMobil Foundation’s matching gift programs.  These programs encourage and assist employees and retirees in their personal giving to cultural institutions by providing a matching contribution.  In 2011, employees and retirees donated more than $2.4 million to arts and cultural organizations, and ExxonMobil Foundation contributed more than $1.6 million by matching their donations.
