Human Resources' mission within ExxonMobil is to create competitive advantage through people.

ExxonMobil's career-based employment philosophy means that HR has a crucial role to play in supporting the development of HR strategies and related initiatives, policies and programmes that ensure the long-term success of our business.

The function is divided into two main areas:

Business Line HR - a strategic business partner working hand-in-hand with business line managers. Roles in this area are both strategic and operational, and involve working closely with managers and supervisors to implement HR strategies, effect organisational changes, and ensure a productive work environment.

Services HR - executing and continually improving core HR processes that are essential to the smooth operation of the business, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, policy development and vendor management. Roles in this area involve staying abreast of legislative developments and market practices and working as part of global process networks.

Typical first roles

Your first role within HR could be as a recruitment adviser, responsible for the coordination of our graduate and undergraduate recruitment programmes, and working with the business line managers to ensure their vacancies are filled by the most suitable candidates.

Alternatively you might take on an analytical role, assisting HR management to deliver a cost-effective and valued service to the business line customers.

In all HR roles you will be expected to have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, and the self-confidence to advise managers on a range of difficult issues.

Your development is supported by HR-specific training modules as well as a network of professional HR colleagues who will mentor and encourage you as you develop your expertise. Of course, you'll also attend the ExxonMobil Graduate Development Programme at the London Business School.

Dispelling the Myths

Human Resources is not an 'easy career option'! You will be faced with a range of challenges, to deliver an effective and credible HR service to a demanding organisation. If you have the capability to take on these challenges, we would be delighted to receive your application!
