In the UK, ExxonMobil has an interest in oil and gas fields either operated by Mobil North Sea or by another company as part of a joint operation.

The interests of Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited in the UK North Sea are managed through a 50/50 joint operation with Shell U.K. Exploration & Production Limited  - Shell is the designated operator for many of the fields.
