Young business visitor thinks ahead

Working for ExxonMobil is an idea that appeals to many graduates, but in today’s world, it’s never too early to start thinking about your career.

Eight-year-old Holly Whitcomb recently got an early preview of the world of work, with a site tour of the Fawley Chemical plant.

After reading an issue of the site’s community newsletter, Holly wrote to say she was interested in becoming a chemical engineer, and asked if she could visit to learn more.

Donning junior-size overalls, a hard hat and gloves, the young visitor toured the site and control rooms, and spent time chatting to employees.

In her thank-you letter, she said that her favourite part had been the visit to the control room – and added that the next time she visits, she might be coming for a job.
