Our CoH program is evidence based, designed to support the health and total well-being of our employees through a comprehensive system of materials and activities that are tailored to reflect the different needs that exist in different countries. More than 70 percent of ExxonMobil employees currently have access to the CoH program, and our goal is to ensure all of our employees have access to a structured set of materials and resources that are relevant to them within the next few years.

As part of ExxonMobil’s commitment to employees, the CoH program helps guide them on their journey to their best physical, emotional and financial health. Through supporting total well-being, ExxonMobil works to:

  • Improve quality of life through helping employees find the right balance across the full range of their personal and professional commitments
  • Reduce chronic health risks
  • Positively impact safety
  • Promote gains in productivity, engagement and resilience

Fixed Equipment Engineer, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company

The CoH program offers multiple, tailored components to promote well-being and healthy living in each country. Some examples of worksite activities include health screenings and worksite educational activities, which help employees with well-being goals such as financial fitness, physical activity, nutrition, stress and disease prevention. Our ExxonMobil employees are proud of their CoH successes. Ron Kobialka, Fixed Equipment Engineer, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company, Houston Campus, Texas, heard about the CoH program at a quarterly safety meeting. At the time, he was overweight, struggling with portion control and not exercising. He also faced challenges because he traveled frequently for work and was a single custodial father of four children, including one with special needs. That’s when Ron decided to make some changes and started using the tools and resources available through the CoH program.

After using these program resources, he realized planning ahead was key and started packing healthy snacks to bring on trips. Ron also began asking for a to-go box at restaurants at the beginning of the meal so he could put half of his meal in the box before beginning to eat. The result is Ron now has more energy, has lost weight and feels better able to provide the support and care he wants to give to his children! “If you focus on consistently making better choices, then results are sure to follow!” Ron commented.

In July 2010, Shell, Chevron, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil recognized the need to be better prepared for a deepwater well-control incident and committed to providing a new containment-response capability for the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. All marine environments contain naturally occurring microbes that feed on and break down crude oil. This means crude oil is largely biodegradable.
